Guilford Courthouse National Military Park

Guilford Courthouse National Military Park is located in Greensboro, North Carolina, preserving the site of the Battle of Guilford Court House fought on March 15, 1781 during the American Revolutionary War. The engagement formed part of the southern campaign that ultimately contributed to British defeat at Yorktown later that year.

Although British forces under General Cornwallis technically won the battle, their heavy casualties weakened their ability to maintain control in the southern colonies. The campaign demonstrated the strategic importance of inland terrain and supply lines in shaping the outcome of the Revolutionary War.

The preserved battlefield includes monuments, interpretive trails, and reconstructed landscape features illustrating military strategy and eighteenth-century battlefield conditions. The site contributes to understanding the broader historical context of the American Revolution in the southern colonies.
